I became a canon lawyer for the Roman Catholic Church after earning my Licentiate of Canon Law

My case work includes marriage, church property, religious life, priestly discipline, money, rights and duties of the faithful, church and school closures, the formation of ministries and associations.. really anything that touches the human side of running the worlds largest and oldest corporation. (Where do you think that word came from?!)

Most issues and conflicts arise in the Church because a canon lawyer was not consulted soon enough. No question is too small or silly. With a 2000 year history, chances are someone in the Church has had a similar problem and a fair solution can be found

Basically I have a license to practice church law. I studied for three years on the faculty of L’Institut catholique de Paris. To qualify for this specific legal training I had to earn a Masters degree in Theology.  Behind my name are the initials JCL which in Latin means Juris Canonici Licentiatus.

Canon law is the oldest legal system in the Western World and actually still regulates the lives of more than a billion Catholic faithful all over the planet.

Like most canon lawyers I work on a variety of issues that touch the lives of priests, bishops and all who are baptized in the faith, but this has also included non Catholics and even those who do not profess a faith.
